shadowy stories of humans and nonhumans that have crossed time and\nspace<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

wonderings and wanderings<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

moments fleeting<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

what tracks go unnoticed when snow no longer reveals shadowy\npresence<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

remembering and forgetting<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

stories untold<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

erasing, rooting<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

following, leading,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

walking, crawling, slithering, running, leaping<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

away from and towards<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

paths converging and pulling apart<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

snow reveals tracks<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

who\/what walk(ed) these places?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

waiting watching listening<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

what might the presence and absence of tracks reveal<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

being<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

neither (a)lone nor lone(ly)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maria Puig de la\nBellacasa (2017) reminds us that speculative inquiry \u201cpushes the boundary of\nacceptable\u201d (p. 73), while Val Plumwood (2002) writes \u201copenness and\nattentiveness give us sensitivity to the world…allow[ing] us to be receptive\nto unanticipated possibilities\u201d (p. 195). In reflecting on the tracks\nencounter, the educator and I resist (mis)representing the stories of \u2018what\nelse\u2019. Rather, the tracks become provocative shadowy stories of animals living\nin liminal and precarious spaces. While tracks and tracings remind us of the\nmovements of the critters that traverse the forest spaces, we are left to\nspeculate what it might mean to care for more-than-human others who go unseen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
