A lot had changed\nwhile they were gone, and we were all feeling very excited to jump back in and\nstart up our investigations again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While they were gone\nwe still re-visited some of the ideas that we were exploring with charcoal and\npaper during our morning meetings, and we still went to the forest as often as\nwe could, but there&#8217;s something energizing about their presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On our first trip\nback to the forest with Carrie, we went to a part of the forest some of us had\nnever visited before. Immediately I noticed connections being made and questions\nbeginning to form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What became a large\nfocus of our investigation was animal tracks \u2013 we came across a large tree that\nhad fallen over and we noticed there were tracks all along it in the snow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>We speculated: Who was there, and when? We considered the human and\nnonhuman beings that share this space with us.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As our investigation continued,\nthe children began to mimic and act out what they thought the animals had done\nalong the tree and around the area.
